A unique gabardine jacket from the late 1940’s or 1950’s, of the kind made popular by Ricky Ricardo of “I Love Lucy”, and therefore called “Ricky” later on, with a design that is certainly inspired in Native-American art and symbolism, but with a certain Art Deco flavor. The jacket had a large label sewn to the satin lining that is now lost. The size is on an orange cardboard label inside the right side pocket, where it says it is clear the jacket is size 42. It is in very good condition considering its age and that it seems to have been worn several times, at least. The only problem that needs professional attention, we believe, is the bad seams on both underarms, but both are relatively easy to fix, as there is no fabric loss. Dry cleaning this might improve the collar, but of course we prefer that is an option for the next owner, because this is a truly old piece that might be better to leave it as is, no dry cleaning. The zipper is the old Talon with a leather string in the puller. The leather string seems original for the jacket, not an addition. The measurements are: 21″ 21 1/2″ across the chest, pit to pit; 24″ from shoulder seam to end of sleeve; 20″ shoulder to shoulder (but please take in consideration the shoulders are padded); 25 from collar seam to hem along the back. By the way, it has two sets of elastics on the waistband; those elastics still stretch a little bit, but they are mostly defeated by time, they can not tighten the waist as they were able to when new, that’s for sure.
