We offer for your consideration a vintage 1940s early 1950 unbranded leather custom made form fitting, horsehide, black motorcycle jacket. The condition shows a stunning piece of history with a very timeless appearance, full of character, and a stunning condition. It does not show any noticeable fading or discoloration from wear; the leather is soft and supple. A fellow ebayer pointed out that this is a CAL-LEATHER LAPD jacket with the snap buttons along the collar for the detachable collar, which we do not have. He thought it was from the 1950s. He mentioned JAMES DEAN wearing the same style jacket with the belt loops, and I did find other examples in my research. Unfortunately, I found no tag. From what I can find the company began making this style jacket in the early 1940s. The TALON zipper site shows the same style zipper and dated it late 1930s through the mid-1940s. Please request more photos if they would help and you in your own research. The former owners told us this was a father’s jacket from the 1930s to mid 1940’s. They did not mention if he was law enforcement, but they all owned multiple motorcycles dating back to the 1930s. In our 20 years of picking we never found another jacket from this era in this condition. It shows a fading and wearing of some of the color along the sleeves and zipper areas. The blemishes are well documented in photos. The main zipper zips. The right and left front pockets zip and unzip easily. All of the snap buttons snap and unsnap easily. You will note the zippers are marked TALON. I was able to date the zippers at late 1930s to mid 1940s. The leather tassels are intact and beautiful with age related wear on three of the zippers. The tassel on the rightpocket is missing in action. It is ready for wear. This garment features a heavy duty easy zip zipper with a bright and untarnished appearance. This is untagged, and it does not show a size, so please check the measurements. The lining is intact and sparkling clean for the age. It shows two minor holes in the lining near the zipper, on the left middle, side as you look at it. The waist gussets are intact and from a time when quality mattered and USA made the top design and quality in items like these. The belt loops are complete and intact. You will notice some minor loose threads. The stitching is absolutely strong, intact, and close to original condition. I noted no missing stitches areas..
