Naval Clothing Factory 1943 vintage WWII original men’s US Navy issue military pea coat. In Jeff Warner’s book US Navy Uniforms and Insignia 1943-46 Vol 5 states that embroidered labels with Naval Clothing Factory were used from the late 1930’s to 1943, later ones adding a line for Name and Rate. In 1943 they switched to the same label but it was printed not embroidered. In 1944 they added the size and 100% wool to the label which this coat does not have. Size men’s small or women’s medium (estimated from measurements). Heavy weight, probably wool or wool blend. 8 anchor button double breasted. Corduroy lined slash pockets. Measurements laid flat +/. Shoulder to hem: 30. Could be worn has a woman’s coat if sleeves are rolled/cuffed. Very good vintage condition. Missing top neck buttons and a button on the back of the collar that probably was used to attach a hood or some other add on. Small moth hole under collar where wool is completely gone and a moth spot on back (not very noticeable), pictured. From a pet free and smoke free home.
