EXTREMELY RARE “Outdoorsman” print rayon in what would have been a huge size in the 1940’s. Camp style loop closure collar 17-17 ½. Buttons are believed original; because later 1940’s shirts went from horizontal to this shirt’s vertical buttonholes, and also went to four-hole mother of pearl-affect plastic buttons. Thread attachment appears to be original. This is a tentative belief, not based on provenance. The shirt has some holes and threadbare areas typical of rayon; the fiber resists unraveling. Shirt has mild but widespread “hanger fade”, somewhat visible across the back and tops of sleeves when worn. This is typical of vintage items that used unstable dark dyes on rayon fabric.
